Breeding Stock

TerraBotanica’s breeding stock represents the foundation of everything we create. It is the result of sustained global travel, direct sourcing, professional relationships, and long-term custodianship of exceptional Anthurium genetics. Every hybrid we develop begins here.

A Global Breeding Programme

Over the past year alone, TerraBotanica has undertaken 31 international visits dedicated exclusively to Anthurium and wider aroid research, acquisition, and collaboration. These visits have included leading horticultural and botanical centres in:

Hong Kong

The Netherlands

Germany

The United States

France

During these visits, we attended specialist Anthurium and aroid shows, engaged directly with elite breeders, and acquired award-winning Anthurium specimens selected specifically for inclusion in our breeding house. These plants were not acquired for resale, but for long-term genetic development, stabilisation, and controlled hybridisation.

Native & Community-Sourced Anthurium

In parallel with formal shows and institutional sourcing, TerraBotanica has also collected Anthurium genetics directly from native regions, including:

Nicaragua

Panama

Honduras

Costa Rica

Many of these Anthurium were not taken from wild forest environments, but sourced responsibly from local families and private growers who have cultivated these plants for years, often growing them in pots inside their homes or as ornamentals in private gardens.

This mirrors how plants are grown and cherished in domestic settings worldwide, including the UK, and ensures genetics are preserved without ecological disruption.

Ethical Acquisition & Respect

Every plant introduced into our breeding programme is acquired ethically, with respect for local customs, private ownership, and long-term sustainability. We do not strip environments, and we do not collect irresponsibly. Our focus is preservation through cultivation, not extraction.

Looking Ahead

The TerraBotanica breeding house continues to expand through careful selection, ongoing international collaboration, and responsible sourcing. This living genetic library underpins every release we make and every standard we uphold.

Our breeding stock is not assembled for today’s market...but for the future of Anthurium cultivation.
